Publishing craft books

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Ever wonder what exactly goes into publishing a craft book? Craftypod talks to a publicist pal of mine (hi Christina!) and a literary agent here. Christina did the PR for The Pillow Book and she is awesome, so I am excited to listen to this.
That said, have you ever wondered what it takes? Do you [...]

Knitgrrl pattern group on Ravelry

Monday, September 29th, 2008

If you’re a Ravelry member, you can get pattern help from the new Knitgrrl pattern group there and share pictures of your finished items, etc. It won’t replace the Knitgrrl errata page but it will be a secondary great resource to talk about my book patterns and help each other out/inspire one another.

Monday, September 29th, 2008

(sorry, I’m a little overexcited, I think)
Getting ready to leave for Felt School, not sure how much time I will have to moderate blogposts or respond to emails or stuff. Probably not much. I’ll be back Thursday with plenty of photos and stories, though. Yay!

See? Electronic books are all the rage. First me, now Interweave. Awesome. Just in time for the holidays, it’s Christmas Stockings: 7 Classic Holiday Treasures To Knit. The patterns in this e-book were taken from Christmas Stockings: Holiday Treasures to Knit by Elaine Lipson (Interweave, 2001), a popular book no longer in print. There’s something [...]

Check it out! How to Knit in the Woods is now available on Kindle!
Since I got my own Kindle — heck, since I heard about them — I have been needling my publishers to get my books onto it. And now one of them is. Hurrah! Just you wait…there’ll be more soon, I’m sure. As [...]

In a few days from now, they’re launching a print edition of the online magazine and you can see previews here. The magazine’s blog, here, has info about this issue’s contributors.
Way to go, Kerrie, Lou and Manda! Congrats!
(And [...]

If you’re a member of the Knitgrrl mailing list (and if you’re not, what are you waiting for? seriously, you just missed a top secret huge pattern sale!) and you’ve recently changed your email address, you’ll probably need to resubscribe. I know I’ve been using Gmail the past 3+ months for all my accounts save [...]
